Sonakshi Amitabh’s dance career began 20 years ago at the prestigious and one of the foremost dance schools in India – The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy. She went on becoming one of the leading Principal Soloist, under the guidance of Mr. Ashley Lobo in his touring company, Navdhara India Dance Theatre (NIDT), with which she travelled the world and performed in leading roles as an actor and dancer. She has been a stage performer throughout her dance career having performed 800 + times on a variety of stages and in different dance styles like contemporary, jazz, ballet, jazz-funk, heels,hiphop and Bollywood. A highlight in her dance career has been performing 600+ shows in a musical, Jhumroo, at Kingdom of Dreams. Along with such extensive performing roles, Sonakshi has also assisted Ashley Lobo in workshops for Bollywood actors using his Prana Paint technique. With her experience, she aims to help dancers understand the possibilities of one’s body and discovering movement which is not limited to where one comes from and what one’s done in past, but what one seeks to be, whether in the present or future.
